Union Yoga & Physical Therapy
Hey there! I’m Dr. Danielle Rose, your local acupuncturist, herbal medicine practitioner, and physical therapist—and your friendly neighborhood guide to better gut health.

In my clinic, I’ve seen firsthand how transformative acupuncture can be for gas and bloating. One of my favorite stories? A patient once told me she never burped or passed gas—ever. After her very first acupuncture session, she sat up and burped. We both laughed because it was the first time that was something to celebrate!
Why Gas & Bloating Happen in TCM
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the digestive system relies on a healthy flow of Qi (energy) and warmth (Yang) to move food through the body. When this system becomes weak or blocked, stagnation occurs—leading to bloating, distention, and discomfort after meals.

Common TCM Causes of Gas & Bloating

Qi Deficiency
When your body lacks sufficient Qi, your gut doesn’t have the energy it needs to move food efficiently. This can lead to sluggish digestion, gas buildup, and post-meal fatigue.
Yang Deficiency
Yang represents your body’s internal warmth or digestive fire. A Yang-deficient person often feels cold, especially in the hands and feet, and experiences slow digestion and abdominal bloating.
These two patterns often overlap—creating that uncomfortable, “full and puffy” feeling after eating.
How Acupuncture Can Help with Gas & Bloating
Acupuncture works by restoring balance and motility in your digestive system. By targeting specific acupuncture points, treatment can:

-
Promote smoother movement through the intestines
-
Reduce bloating and gas buildup
-
Warm and strengthen the digestive organs
-
Improve overall energy and metabolism
Many of my patients notice lighter, easier digestion after just a few treatments—and even more significant changes with continued care.

Herbal Medicine for Long-Term Gut Health

While acupuncture offers immediate relief, herbal medicine provides deeper, long-term support. Custom herbal formulas help regulate digestion, strengthen the spleen, and reduce recurrent bloating over time.
