Frequently Asked Questions
Union Yoga and Physical Therapy is a fee for service based physical therapy practice. Each session is a direct one on one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. In order to provide this level of care and attention, we require full payment at the time of service. After your session, you will be emailed a comprehensive invoice that you can submit to your insurance. You will be reimbursed for your session based on your out of network physical therapy benefits with your insurance provider.
The pricing is set for evaluations and treatments, each which are one hour long. Pelvic floor check-ups are the same pricing as evaluations. Wellness and yoga sessions are also a set, specific price. Yoga and wellness visits can be either 30 or 60 min. Please contact Union Yoga & Physical Therapy for specific prices.
Due to the home-office based setting of this space, you will find that the prices are very reasonable as compared to other clinics with a similar structure.
Dry needling is a tissue release technique that uses a non-hypodermic needle (usually similar to an acupuncture needle) in order to release tight tissue/trigger points in the muscle. There is no injectable during this treatment and there is no anesthesia needed. Though it can, needling does not typically comprise the entire physical therapy session. It can be used with or without electrical stimulation.
As pain is very subjective, it is difficult to determine how one will be affected. The “bell curve” of the population will typically feel discomfort that will be alleviated within a few hours to 1-2 days. This should also be accompanied by a significant decrease, if not complete alleviation of the pain that brought you to Union Yoga & Physical Therapy.
You can expect a full work-up on the lumbar spine, pelvis and hip region. Time permitting during that first session, your abdomen will also be evaluated. Otherwise, it will be a part of your next session. We start externally and move internally. Within your comfort level, there is an internal exam of the pelvic floor for tissue tension and strength. It is no different than looking at the knee and surrounding tissues – just a different part of the body! If you are not comfortable with an internal assessment, it can be waived until you become more at ease with your therapist. An internal assessment will never take place until you are 100% on board.
